Introduction
Sterne Agee maintains its’ core enterprise account management and trading applications in-house, providing strategic control over the direction of software that is critical to the mission of the business. Our main web application is used by thousands of investment advisers during their daily business of managing their customer accounts. This role is responsible for continuously enhancing and building new software features in accordance to Sterne Agee’s long-term business strategy.
Our main development stack is using the latest C#/ASP.NET framework, LINQ/Entity Framework over SQL Server for data access, and a robust HTML5/JavaScript front-end with an MVVM architectural pattern. We deploy to a number of load-balanced web and database servers to support a high availability strategy.
Responsibilities
The Senior Software Engineer role is responsible for performing design and implementation of application functionality, database objects, and deployment. The ideal candidate will be able to acquire a deep understanding of Sterne Agee’s business objectives and be capable of formulating and implementing technical solutions to accomplish them within the constraints of architecture standards, schedule and budget. Responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with the technical team and business owners to design and develop high-quality solutions within an Agile process
- Author and test code using the C# and ASP.NET
- Create and maintain views, stored procedures, data models
- Provide support to server and database administrators during normal business and off hour implementations and issue resolution on a rotational basis
- Create and maintain documentation and architectural diagrams
- Automate unit and integration tests to achieve highly automated test coverage
- Accurately estimate requirements and tasks
- Participate in code reviews for quality, functionality, performance and security
