Gannett Government Media seeks a skilled Web Developer. This position will be responsible for code (HTML5, CSS3, Python/Django, JavaScript/jQuery) for audience-facing interactive features and functionality of Gannett Goverment Media’s digital products. This position reports to the Manager of Digital Product Development. Gannett Government Media was first established in 1940 as Army Times Publishing Company, an independent publishing company reporting on military news and information. Since then, the company has expanded into defense and government news, and has launched or acquired more than 13 periodicals and has extended its brand globally into the online and broadcasting arenas. Gannett Government Media is a subsidiary of Gannett Co., Inc.
Responsibilities:
- Develops new web applications, sites, and products as needed for promotions, feature requests, and business goals.
- Writes code and scripts to extend and improve features and functionality for GGMC's portfolio of digital products.
- Ensures the user experience meets requirements across supported operating systems, browsers and platforms, including desktop-, smartphone- and tablet-optimized formats.
- Becomes the expert in Gannett's enterprise publishing tools and platforms, and various third-party solutions licensed from partners. Uses those systems – including content management, user authentication, video delivery, web analytics and ad serving technologies -- to build and tailor interfaces to their target audiences.
- Works to increase and enhance user engagement with digital products.
- Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
