The position may be based in either Toronto or Vancouver.
The CBC Music Web Developer is responsible for developing CBC Music websites and for providing expert advice and support to clients, in order to maintain sites. The Web Developer analyzes business requests and writes code to produce new websites or modify and support existing sites. There is opportunity for, and an expectation of a high degree of creativity and initiative.
Key Tasks
Provides technical leadership for the development of MVC software solutions with progressive software principles and information architecture standards. Recommends new approaches and leads development of large Content Management SystemsDesigns, implements, and maintains ORM systems using using traditional relational databases, and with NoSql databasesArchitects and manages complex data distribution systems, ensuring performance is optimal, robust, and maintainableProvide domain expertise and actively participate with web developers, designers, system administrators, and CBC Music Managers in a fast-moving Agile environmentEnsures strong quality assurance by employing automated testing through the use of tests; and troubleshoots and resolves issues as neededDiscover and apply emerging technologies to solve web problems; ability to conceptualize, visualize, and communicate ideasAbility to work independently and as a part of a team; desire to work in a fast-paced environment that supports on-air broadcasting and editorial staff
