Rice University’s OpenStax College initiative is searching for a well-qualified Ruby on Rails developer to make a number of improvements to its web site, openstaxcollege.org. OpenStax College provides a growing suite of free, professionally-produced textbooks for the highest enrollment community college and advanced high school courses.
Secondary responsibilities may include work on other OpenStax Rails sites.
The primary responsibility of the successful candidate will be to add backend business logic and frontend view changes to the site to support a number of new or improved features, including but not limited to the management and tracking of textbook errors, integration with salesforce data tracking services, the addition of pages highlighting our partner organizations, creation of an ONIX feed, and expansion of services for student users. This work will require solicitation of requirements from and frequent interaction with OpenStax College management and staff as well as staff at affiliated organizations.
Secondary responsibilities may include work on other OpenStax Rails sites.
