We’re looking for a local full-time .NET developer to work in our New Haven, CT office who loves a blend of front-end and back-end development using ASP.NET with C#, HTML5, CSS & JavaScript, and SQL Server.   You must be a great collaborator who will be part of a small tech team, so you absolutely must be hands-on and willing to work on multiple layers of the tech stack to get your projects done. This is what you will be doing:

  • Coding.  Lots of coding!   Enhance our HTML5/Javascript games, upgrade our ASP.NET portal, add features and depth to our SQL Server database, and extra data from our Mongo DB database.

  • Helping us bring bleeding-edge HTML5 games for cognitive development and cognitive repair by working directly with one of the world’s top gaming studios.

  • Directly interface with senior scientists at Yale University to implement a cognitive repair curriculum in a cloud server that delivers cognitive games to kids, which in turn delivers progress reports to teachers, using bleeding-edge research in the field of neuroplasticity and video games.  If that doesn't intrigue you, don't apply!

  • Translate requests from a research team into product specifications/feature enhancements.  You'll get a simple request like, we'd like to see a new data element on a report.... and in turn this will have profound impact on the games, game logic, game advancement, data tracking, portal UI, curriculum scheduling, and, of course, the report that was asked for at the beginning of this bullet.    You would need to be able to see through *all layers* of impact of the request, so your analytical capability will be challenged and leveraged.

  • Analyze data in depth, both structured relational database data as well as log data from Mongo DB, and confirming the true event trail that took place when kids took games.   Being able to "replay" history and see things that went wrong, what needs to be changed, etc. is what we are after here.   There is a bit of CSI Crime Scene Investigator work that crops up from time to time, so be ready to get out the fingerprint analyzer.

  • Ensuring cross-browser compatibility of front-end code across all browsers - desktop AND mobile.  Mobile is a challenge.  But our audience is shifting to mobile and we need to tackle it heads-on.  Kids like tablets and want to play our games on tablets.

  • English should be your *primary* language.  The winning candidate must have excellent communication skills both in business English and in technical English.

Individual applicants only - no staffing or consulting agencies please.
