Software Development Information Technology Tenure Track Instructor at Green River Community College (Auburn, WA)

The Information Technology Bachelors Program in Network Administration and Security started off this past winter quarter with a full cohort, and the future looks bright for both current and future students and the Green River IT program.  The Information Technology program is looking for an enthusiastic, knowledgeable addition to the Software Development team.  The Technology division is accepting applications to be considered for a full time tenure track Information Technology Instructor starting Fall Quarter 2014.

Green River Community College welcomes individuals who have a commitment to teach and the ability to utilize a variety of methods and modes of instruction to ensure student success.  Given the diversity of our student population, we encourage applications from individuals who can adapt instructional methods to a wide range of student backgrounds and interests.  The Technology Division at Green River Community College is seeking individuals who have knowledge of and interest in, Information Technology education at a community college. 


The successful candidate will teach Information Technology and Computer Science courses at a variety of levels in lecture (whiteboard design, live coding), lab (hands-on work with students), or online settings. Primary teaching responsibilities will include:



  •     Programming and scripting in a variety of languages (C/C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, PowerShell, Python, Bash, SQL)

  •     Full stack web development using modern framework

  •     Mobile application development

  •     Database fundamentals

  •     Agile development methods

  •     Debugging, testing, and software maintenance

  •     Configuration management and deployment and others as technology evolves 


In addition to teaching, responsibilities will include student advising, course/curriculum development, providing support to adjunct faculty members, recruiting students, supporting the program’s advisory committee, developing and maintaining relationships with technical professionals in the region, sponsoring student activities, and participating in other college and division professional activities such as committee work, special projects, and professional development.
