DevOps Engineer at Xamarin (Boston, MA)

Your Role:

Xamarin’s mission is to create the most compelling developer tools on the planet. We’re searching for a talented DevOps Engineer to join the Release Engineering team.

Maybe you’re a developer who is interested in continuous deployment and network operations.  Or, if you’re a sysadmin who has a passion for scripting and coding.  Either way, you’ve pushed beyond your defined role and interested in tackling bigger challenges.

Who broke the build?  We’ll know immediately because the continuous integration process that you help setup has already kicked off an email, turned on the red lava lamp, and fired a foam missile from a USB launcher in the direction of the responsible engineer.  Got data?  You should love collecting log files, graphing metrics, and analyzing the data to spot trends in the quality of our workflow and processes, and generally, be a data junkie.

The position is based in Boston, MA.  Xamarin provides relocation assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You live to automate… you get a kick out of your teammates asking “you mean it just… happens?"

  • You are familiar with scripting operating systems and deployment tasks. They call you the "server whisperer".

  • New technologies are quickly tamed and put to practical use.

  • You have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. You’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves and troubleshoot a complex bug.

  • As the name implies, you know that great DevOps engineers excel in bridging the worlds of software development and systems management. You are comfortable communicating with both.

  • You know there’s a better way, and can balance today’s work with making improvements for the future.

What We're Looking For:

  • Programming experience in Ruby, Javascript/Node.JS or similar programming languages.

  • DVCS experience, Git preferred.

  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment tools (Jenkins, TeamCity or similar)

  • Experience managing installations of 50+ Mac and Windows machines

  • Experience with data visualization (d3, Google Charts, others) and analysis

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar, and/or relevant experience

Bonus:

  • Contributed to open source projects and can share code samples via Github or other source code hosting facility, send your Github link!

  • You are a security expert, awesome!
