Back-End Engineer with the eBay Home Page Team at eBay Inc. (New York, NY)

We’re looking for an outstanding back-end engineer to work with the Homepage team in NYC as we redefine the face of eBay. You’ll be working with a world class team of engineers, designers, product managers, and analysts to create great products that make a difference on one of the world’s most trafficked and loved websites. We currently work on the Feed and Collections products. The eBay Feed delivers an endless stream of interesting content based on what a customer chooses to follow on eBay. The Collections on the homepage highlight unique items and collections available on the site chosen by our curatorial staff. Our technology stack includes Java for back-end with MongoDB/MySQL, and HTML/LESS/jQuery and vanilla JavaScript in the front-end (with a little bit of Node.js). 

On a day-to-day basis, you would: 



  • Create robust, scalable APIs that support web, mobile web, and mobile applications 

  • Design and implement algorithms to increase relevancy of the Feed 

  • Use best practices to write clean, maintainable code for the project 

  • Identify and address performance bottlenecks 

  • Use best practices to write code and setup processes that are easy to manage and maintain 

  • Be responsible for major projects and features from design phase to coding and testing
