The Prime and Delivery Experience Team is seeking an experienced and talented Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to lead and provide testing expertise and be an advocate for our customers. Our QAEs support Amazon’s international delivery programs such as Super Saver Shipping, Add-ons, and Amazon Prime. The Amazon Prime program offers customers a premium level of service, offering customers free two-day shipping and a variety of digital benefits. There are millions of Prime members worldwide and they are some of Amazon’s most active and valuable customers.
During 2013, our team is working to modernize our testing and deployment process, using software QA processes such service level automation and continuous deployment. Our QAEs test code at the user level, both manually and with automated tools, using a variety of black box, gray box, and white box testing techniques. They are able to understand software internals, debug problems using log files, and automate repetitive tasks using our test automation frameworks. Our QAEs work directly with our Software Development Engineers to understand features and technical implementation, as well as working with Product Managers, User Experience Design specialists, and Customer Support personnel. They understand customer usage models and develop test plans and test suites that approximate real-world environments and use cases. They create and execute appropriate regression tests. Our QAEs are also responsible for driving our software development process toward quality-centric methodologies.

- 8+ years overall QA/development experience.
- Demonstrated experience in test planning, test design, test strategy, and test execution.
- Defines the quality space and roadmap to address it emphasizing development processes and testing.
- Serves as a quality lead for large cross-functional, cross-organizational projects, helping to define the software development processes, and scoping the test requirements. Leads other engineers in gathering test requirements and creating quality test plans for large complex projects.
- Designs tools or harnesses to enable more effective script creation and execution. Works closely with SDEs or SDETs to implement these designs
- Recommends improvements to the way systems are designed and tested across the organization or company.
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent combination of technical education and work experience.
- Experience working closely with development and business teams to communicate problem impacts and to understand business requirements.
- Strong organizational skills, able to track multiple test executions simultaneously and are able to synthesize the results.
- Shows creativity and initiative to improve product test coverage and effectiveness.
- Comfortable communicating cross-functionally and across management levels in formal and informal settings.
- Experience in testing web technologies, services, and physical devices. Understanding of Java technologies, XML, JS, CSS, and HTML.
- Experience in Agile or Scrum software development methodologies.
- Ability to write quality code in at least one high level language like Java, C, C# etc.
