The Kindle Reader team is responsible for all reader releases across all platforms. We build the award winning iOS and Android apps, the applications for the Fire tablets and the new Fire Phone, Paperwhite, and for the Cloud Reader.
If people read kindle content, they do it on an application our team builds.
We are seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to lead efforts in creating the next generation reading experiences across all of our platforms, but in particular for iOS on phones and tablets.
The Senior TPM role requires excellent leadership skills, strong technical expertise and hands-on project management skills. The right candidate will be adept at writing technical specifications, owning program schedules from design to release, partnering effectively with other teams within and outside of Amazon, and managing client launches. The Senior TPM will also be responsible for setting program standards and expectations, leading and mentoring other TPMs in the Kindle Reader team. You will have the opportunity to impact customers worldwide by working with development teams across the Kindle globally. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable digging into business requirements and product planning as well as drilling into technical architecture and design.
In this TPM role you must also have passion for reading, ideally be a reader yourself, and have a knack for good UX design, and love technology.

- Knowledge of the following is required; service-oriented architecture, product development (including areas such as C++, Java/Objective C, XML, messaging protocols, and Web Services), build processes, project management and release models.
- 7+ years experience in a technical project management or related role.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science; related field or equivalent work experience.
- A strong track record of successful project delivery for large, cross-functional projects
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills, successful track record of coordinating between multiple project stakeholders, technical program managers, and software development teams
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals.
- Experience in creating and managing complex, cross-team project plans; prior success in driving execution of large-scale project plans with multiple teams in support of business goals
- Hands on experience with Agile methodologies and proven leadership skills to guide other TPMs
- Experience with hands on development or prototyping with iOS, Android, or CSS/JS/HTML
- experience on mobile client software is a must
