As an Instructor at Lighthouse Labs you’ll get to work with a young, passionate, foosball-loving team that believes in one thing: teaching people how to code, and how to code well, is crucial to the on-going success of the Canadian tech sector.
We run an 8-week bootcamp-style program that is, to say the least, intense and pushes our students to their limits. Not just anyone is accepted either as we extensively screen our candidates before they can join. Once they’re here we inject them - Matrix style - with the fundamentals of web development, covering topics such as HTML5/CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, Ruby on Rails, SQL, Node and Angular. It’s not easy, but teaching a roomful of highly intelligent and motivated people is a rewarding and challenging experience that both you and your students will benefit from.
Do you already have a development job you like or want to start your own venture? That's okay (actually its kind of perfect) because we're only asking for a part-time commitment of 6 to 15 hours a week. In fact, our ideal candidate would be someone who's currently an industry professional working with cutting-edge technology.
Working at Lighthouse Labs is awesome if you like:
- Teaching people a new and empowering skillset that could change their lives forever.
- Having the kind of students you can grab a beer with after work and not be a crime.
- Iterating on a curriculum to ensure you have it just right.
- Working in a young business that is always looking for ways to be innovative.
- Having a say in what we do in and outside of the classroom.
- Playing foosball.
- Having team dinners where we brag about beating everyone at foosball.
There are also some awesome perks – like a t-shirt and a hoodie (if you ask nicely we’ll even put our logo on it)! Free coffee (when we remember to restock it), a sweet new foosball table (did I mention we like foosball?), and the rewarding experience that is teaching!
If any of this floats your boat, tickles your fancy, compiles your code, etc., then you should definitely click the apply button (or email rahul@lighthouselabs.ca) and send over your resume along with your Github profile and/or portfolio.
