Orbis Technologies is interested in hiring a Sr. software engineer/developer in Annapolis, Maryland. This position is a great opportunity for an experienced developer to bring their Software Development life cycle and management talents to lead big data cloud integration projects. We provide services to both government and commercial customers. Some projects include design, optimization, and analysis of intelligence data that benefits our national security.
The Sr. engineer/developer will join Orbis' Annapolis office and headquarters, and use cutting edge technologies in small team environment. Technologies used include open source development predominantly in Java, cloud computing including the use of Hadoop, Accumulo, CloudBase, HBase, and core semantic web technologies.
A Sr. Software Engineer:
- Takes ownership of major project areas and technically contributes to various project phases from development through implementation of advanced web technology solutions for commercial and government clients. Projects include integration of Open Source software with developed web services to create custom solutions for our clients.
- Interfaces with our customers clearly, concisely, and in a professional manner in meetings or via both email and phone.
- Effectively use Java and other programming languages to develop high quality software designs and programs. Sr. Level Engineer will perform both review and hands-on programming.
- Uses configuration management tools to accurately track changes/updates
- Takes ownership of project tasks and works to complete on-time.
- Supports engineering efforts that provide engineering, technical, and managerial direction for problem definition, analysis, requirement development, and implementation for complex systems in the engineering discipline required to meet technical requirements.
- Develops recommendations and advice on system development, improvements, optimization, or support efforts.
- Performs highly complex systems modeling, simulation and analysis to provide appropriate solution.
- Provides technical consultation to other projects, interacts with senior customer personnel and internal senior management
- Recommends corrections in complex technical applications and analysis to enhance performance.
- Provides leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel.
