The AVID Center is currently seeking a Front End Developer, working out of the San Diego office. Under the direction of the Director of Interaction Design, the Front-End Developer will support the development of interactive online and digital content for AVID Center's Interaction Design (IxD) Team. In this role, you specialize in building responsive and elegant web UIs. You live and breathe the fundamentals of CSS and HTML. You command an impressive portfolio of web technologies new and old--all in order to launch innovative features to a diverse audience whether on a smartphone, tablet, or desktop.
You think creatively about how to use technology to streamline and drive processes and can take your ideas from concept through to impeccable execution. You are the code master--with strong analytical troubleshooting skills and the ability to interact with end-users to build real world solutions that exceed their expectations. Oh, and you thrive when working on multiple, diverse projects at the same time and can balance them effectively.
You are passionate about learning and games, and can readily adapt in a fast-paced environment. You have mastered the skill of maintaining a fun, collaborative work environment, actively listening to and building solutions with a team of interactivity/game designers, media artists, and producers.
Essential Duties:
• Work closely with interactivity/game designers, producers, and back-end developers to implement versatile solutions to tricky web and mobile development issues
• Lead development efforts on large scale web-based and mobile products, ensuring robust and lasting solutions
• Work closely with interactivity/game designers on screen functionality and UI from concept to final product to create visually appealing interface for web and mobile applications
• Program without needing to rely on libraries to accomplish innovative interactions; independently design and code to deliver on complex product requirements
• Quickly generate a prototype from UI concepts for testing and team/end-user feedback
• Aware of the interplay between JavaScript, HTML & CSS; dynamically create, modify, and style DOM elements with ease
• Embrace emerging standards, while promoting best practices to push the limits of what browsers can do
• Creates best practices for methods to ensure browser and device compatibility; degrading gracefully for older browsers and displays; file compression
• Familiarity with development and debugging tools for cross-browser and cross-platform issues
• Communicate clearly and succinctly technical issues with non-technical folks -- verbally and in writing
• Performs other similar duties as assigned
