About the Gannett Digital Development & Integrations Team
The Gannett Digital Development & Integrations team consists of several Front-end and Django/Python developers who work with peer engineering teams, business stakeholders, product managers, project managers and designers to facilitate the architectural planning, operation and execution of software solutions in an Agile environment. Gannett’s digital platform powers sites such as USAToday.com as well as over a hundred other sites for local community news publishers and broadcast stations. In addition to formulating new technical solutions, especially in the area of video, user generated content and API integration, the team is responsible for troubleshooting problems and developing tools to support the solutions. The Role
As a Sr. Developer you will possess strong object-oriented design and development skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills and be a proponent of Test Driven Development. You will be:
- An expert with Django / Python and integrating with 3rd party REST APIs.
- Fluent in new and emerging front-end technologies - JavaScript (particularly jQuery and Backbone.js), Ajax, HTML5.
- Design robust scalable solutions that meet performance and maintenance standards.
- Knowledgeable in Agile methodologies, continuous integration, GitHub, Git etc.
- Willing to adapt and are not afraid to be an agent of change.
